SecureMac Study Reveals Startling Internet Security Concerns Among Mac Users

Las Vegas, NV, August 16, 2016 – SecureMac, one of the key contributors in the Mac security world, today announced the results of a recent customer survey in which respondents answered questions regarding the security associated with their Mac as well as their experience with MacScan software. The survey received more than 500 responses from existing MacScan software users.

Of the customers surveyed, 72% own two or more Macs and 94% own two or more Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc.). Further, 79% of customers have been Mac users for over 10 years. Other customer insights include:

  • 86% were unsure or do not think that OS X alone provided sufficient security
  • 75% used another security software prior to choosing MacScan
  • 81% have trusted MacScan for over 3 years
  • 79% stated that MacScan 3 meets all of their current security needs with no additional improvements required in future versions

“It is increasingly important to listen to what our customers have to say as the majority of them own multiple Macs and have been loyal to Apple, and SecureMac, for well over a decade. These are the people who know and trust Macs but also understand the shortfalls,” said Nicholas Raba, President of SecureMac. “What we have found is that our customers are increasingly aware of the security threats that face Mac users and understand the limitations of OS X which is why we are seeing so many of our valued customers upgrade to the recently released MacScan 3.”

In January, SecureMac announced the launch of MacScan 3, the next generation of its flagship anti-malware software for Mac users. MacScan 3 offers an all-new approach to the way SecureMac protects against security and privacy threats, including a streamlined user experience, new features, and major improvements to speed and stability. Unlike many competing products on the market, MacScan 3 protects against the threats that are targeting Mac users, including trojan horses, keystroke loggers and adware. Key features of MacScan 3 include:

  • Protection against Malware Threats
  • Internet Clutter Cleanup
  • Scheduled Scans & Automated Cleaning
  • Malware Definition Updates

The study also found that 44% of customers use their Mac for work and 66% stated that their company primarily uses Macs. Combined with the findings that 61% of customers used unsecured Wi-Fi on a regular basis there is an increasing importance placed on the fact that customers and small businesses need to have the best security software available.
